Outrageous Juxtapositioning!

As soon as I arrive in Florence, the first thing I usually do is drop my bags and walk over to the Piazza Signoria.  That’s, for me, the center of Florence and I love to sit at the Cafe Rivoire and have an espresso and pretend I am waiting for Cosimo dei Medici to join me.  When I arrived this trip I was astounded.  I realize that contemporary art and sculpture has its important place in society.....but to place a piece like this one next to the iconic Palazzo Vecchio is nothing short of ridiculous.  I couldn’t event sit at Rivoire to wait for Cosimo.....but instead moved on to the Bar Gilli.  (Even the tacky carousel in the Piazza della Repubblica didn’t annoy me as much).
